  • How do I keep bed bugs from coming back?

Avoiding bed bugs can be difficult since there is a risk of coming in contact with them whenever you go out in public. Checking through the items you bring into your house can help, but it’s easy to overlook these tiny pests. It’s wise to routinely inspect your house if you’re worried about bed bugs. You can also take advantage of our Quarterly Bed Bug Protection Plan which provides quarterly inspections and treatments if necessary.

  • Are all bed bug treatments the same?

Many people are tempted to try DIY bed bug treatments when they discover bed bugs in their home. These treatments rarely work, and in some instances, they can even make the problem worse. At Albemarle Termite & Pest Control, we use a proven treatment method that is based on the severity of your bed bug infestation. We’ll recommend a three-week or nine-week treatment course to eliminate your bed bug infestation.

  • I keep my house clean. Do I really need to worry about bed bugs?
It’s a myth that bed bugs only infest dirty spaces. The way that they get from place to place, which is usually by climbing onto someone’s clothing or into a bag, means they can get into anyone’s home. However, there is a benefit to having a clean house when it comes to bed bugs. If your home is very tidy, you are more likely to notice a bed bug infestation in its earlier stages, which makes it much easier and faster to treat.

Our Bed Bug Control Process

Free Inspection

Our bed bug control process begins with a free inspection. Before we treat for bed bugs, we need to confirm their identity and determine how widespread the infestation has become. We’ll perform a whole-house inspection, paying careful attention to bedding, furniture, carpets, curtains, cracks, and crevices.

Initial Treatment

Based on the findings of our inspection and the severity of your bed bug infestation, we’ll recommend either a three, six, or nine-week bed bug program. Your initial treatment can take between three and ten hours. We vacuum, then apply a conventional liquid treatment to baseboards, cracks, crevices, and furniture that we disassemble before the treatment. In some cases, we’ll also use a dust product in wall voids and electrical outlets.

Follow-Up Service

The first follow-up treatment occurs two to three weeks after the initial treatment, where we’ll inspect your home and re-treat. For extended programs, we’ll continue to follow up once every three weeks and perform an inspection. If any signs of bed bugs are still present, we’ll treat your home again.
